2 oz 999 Fine Silver Coin – Republique du Tchad 2023 – 10000 Francs CFA
The Girl With a Pearl Earring is a work of art that was created by Johannes Vermeer. The painting dates back to 1665 but was only called by its current name toward the end of the 20th century. This art piece is one of the most recognizable examples of Dutch Golden Age painting today. This is an oil on canvas and it is a painting style called a tronie, which is a Dutch work that is not actually meant to be used as a portrait. The intimacy of the look on the subject’s face and her large earring has been a source of much discussion among experts and historians. When the painting was recently restored, it was found that the dark background would have originally been an enamel-like material and also green in color. This painting has been extensively studied and have become the source of much attention in popular media and pop culture. The colors of the painting and the expression on the subject’s face are unique for paintings completed at the same time and modernity of the design has fascinated arts experts and historians alike for generations. This painting has even been compared to The Mona Lisa for its artistic impact and relevance to culture and history.
On a canvas of 11 x 14.5cm, a new minting technique called “Bi-Metal Max” was applied to give this piece its remarkable weight while keeping its proportions true to the actual painting. This is made possible by combining 33.5 oz of copper as a base with a top painting layer of 2 oz of 999 Fine Silver, resulting in a high relief. This is a limited edition of 333 pieces only. Each piece is packaged and delivered with a Certificate verifying its edition number and authenticity.
