King Tutankhamun’s Dagger
2 oz Fine Silver Coin – Samoa 2025 – 5 Tala
Often called the “dagger that shouldn’t exist”, Pharaoh Tutankhamun’s meteoritic iron dagger is a rare Bronze Age artefact that predates widespread iron use. Dating to 1323 BCE, it features an iron blade forged from meteoritic metal (iron of the sky), symbolising divine power and celestial origins. Discovered in 1925 in Tutankhamun’s tomb in the Valley of the Kings, the dagger was found with the king’s mummy and placed on the right thigh, representing the importance to the king.
This coin replicates the dagger, featuring a polished blade and gold handle adorned with lotus motifs. Iron, extremely rare at the time, symbolised divinity, strength, and eternity, while the lotus represented rebirth and regeneration. Geometric patterns enhance the ceremonial and symbolic significance, capturing the essence of the original artefact.
Measuring 17.5mm by 170mm, this 2oz 999 silver coin combines antique silver finishing with .999 gold gilding and coloring techniques to faithfully recreate the dagger. Limited to 500 pieces, each coin is packaged with a Certificate of Authenticity verifying its edition number, allowing collectors to own a piece of history embodying royalty, divinity, and mystery.
